After receiving my Bachelor of Science in Bacteriology at UCLA I attended the Graduate School of Microbiology and Immunology and obtained my PHD. After I passed my comprehensive oral exams for my doctorate I simultaneously enrolled in Dental School to obtain a dental degree as well.
So this transition makes sense to you, I became addicted to Valium and alcohol in the process of overachieving and eventually destroyed everything in my path until I was unemployed, divorced, and living out of my car. I began my own recovery from addiction in 1984.
In 1984, when I was in my thirties, I discovered that I enjoyed business more than science and changed the direction of my career to developing a whole  variety of businesses.
Of my businesses  the accomplishment  I value the most was opening and running Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Facilities. The first of these agencies was a residential care facility for women who were considered “resistant to treatment” but really were the most wounded. From developing a residential treatment program I then developed several outpatient programs including a spiritual wellness program, and an equine retreat program.
I also owned and operated a large commercial horseback riding business in Sedona Arizona which was primarily a tourist business but also served as the center for spiritual retreats.
As my own businesses became successful I began helping friends to start their businesses.  This evolved into my consulting business, helping businesses to start up, grow, or increase efficiency.
I am also very proud of the work I have done helping others to recover from alcoholism and substance abuse.  I have been active in this work continuously since 1984.Through this work as well as my businesses I have had the opportunity to watch many people move from hopelessness and desperation into productive, fulfilling lives.
I also have a long time interest in film. Within the last 5-6 years have been Executive Producer of two documentaries, Letter to Anita by Andrea Meyerson and The Passionate Pursuits of Angela Bowen.  I also am an Associate Producer of Kiss Me, Kill Me a gay themed suspense film by Casper Andreas. I continue to support films which bring inspiring messages about personal resilience and triumph especially in regards to the LGBTQ community.
Currently I continue with my work in the recovering communities in Palm Springs and Sequim, Wa.  I am active politically in the Courageous Resistance and fighting for social, economic and racial justice.  I also co-chair the Advisory Board of the L-Fund.
It is important to me to live a life as closely aligned to my values of kindness, inclusion and compassion as possible while accepting my human frailties:)
