When Marnie Tenden was in grad school she participated in a contest to see who could develop the best advertising campaign. Her group designed a mock campaign to sell Frisbees to Mexico. They did such a good job it caught the eye of some the big ad agencies and she suddenly found herself on Madison Ave running with the big dogs. That was the first step in a very successful career in advertising that eventually led her to Los Angeles and to a client list of major corporations.

She has brought that experience with her to the Valley where she has lived in Cathedral City for the last year and has started her own company called, inSync social media, which helps women with their advertising and public relations needs. She does it all from designing web sites to producing press kits. What’s exciting about  this is that it offers the “small business” a way to get “big business services” at an affordable cost.

Before coming here she had a 20 year relationship but her corporate life was “all consuming” and for professional reasons she said, “my objective was to be as straight as possible.” Most of her friends were either straight or gay men. Now for the first time she is developing a network of Lesbian friends and looks forward to becoming a part of this very viable women’s community.

She has started painting and has has a new business that sells dog leashes. She has joined The Women’s Circle and looks forward to helping lesbian business owners get a handle on their social media needs. Her business skills certainly strengthen the community and her presence enhances this close knit community of women looking to increase the economic influence of Lesbians in the Coachella Valley.
